GEORGIA HOUSE DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS STANDS WITH STATE REPRESENTATIVE AND ARMY VETERAN SCOTT HOLCOMB
Atlanta, Ga. – October 19, 2012 – The Georgia House Democratic Caucus stands with State Representative and Army veteran Scott Holcomb after Representative Holcomb was the target of a reprehensible attack ad by his Republican opponent, Chris Boedeker. Boedeker maliciously questioned the integrity of Rep. Holcomb’s military service by falsely suggesting Rep. Holcomb used illegal drugs while serving our country.
Rep. Holcomb proudly served twelve years in our military including tours in Bosnia and Iraq. Veterans in the Georgia House Democratic Caucus are alarmed to see the irresponsible and misleading ad.
“One of our fundamental values as a nation is to honor those who serve our families and neighbors,” said Caucus Chairman Brian Thomas, a retired Army Major. “It is inconceivable that anyone would dishonor a veteran who put his life on the line to protect our country and freedom. We are calling on our State’s Republican leadership to denounce Mr. Boedeker’s false statements against fellow U.S. veteran, Rep. Holcomb.”
“Rep. Holcomb went to the well that day to defend another group of Americans –women and children who have fallen on hard times,” said House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams. “I am saddened by any potential public servant who would falsify Scott’s record of service to score political points.”
